Treasure Chest Bars
Instructions
- Bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Sift together:
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 1/2 t. baking powder
- 1/2 t. salt
Cream together:
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
Blend in:
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1 t. vanilla
- Beat until fluffy
Add:
- dry ingredients alternately with 3/4 cup milk;
- Begin and end with dry ingredients.
- Blend well after each addition.
Stir in:
- 1 cup salted nuts, broken
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved and drained
- 6 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Turn:
- Into 15 x 10 X 1 inch pan, greased and floured. Bake
Frosting:
- Brown 1/4 cup butter until deep brown.
- Remove from heat.
- Blend in 2 cup sifted powdered sugar and 1/2 t. vanilla flavoring.
- Add 2 T. milk.
- Beat until smooth.
