Orange Slice Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 pound dates chopped
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 pound orange slice candy
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 t. soda
- 1 cup coconut
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 cup confectionery sugar
- 3 1/2 cup plain flour
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, beating well after each.

- solve soda in milk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and add
- dates, orange slices, nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut
- to creamed mixture. Dough is very stiff and should be mixed with hands. Put
- in
- greased and floured bundt or tube cake pan.
- Bake in a 250 degree oven for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Combine orange juice and confec-
- tionery sugar and pour over hot cake (while in pan), then put bake in oven and
- let
- stand overnight.
