Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, beating well after each.
Dis-
solve soda in milk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and add
dates, orange slices, nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut
to creamed mixture. Dough is very stiff and should be mixed with hands. Put
in
greased and floured bundt or tube cake pan.
Bake in a 250 degree oven for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Combine orange juice and confec-
tionery sugar and pour over hot cake (while in pan), then put bake in oven and
let
stand overnight.
