Missouri Walnut Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cup sifted cake flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 t. salt

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixer bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a
  • time, beating well after each addition. Sift together cake flour, salt, soda and
  • nutmeg and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Beat until
  • well blended. Stir in chopped walnuts. Pour into a greased and lightly
  • floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 - 60 minutes.
  • Let set 15 minutes in pan then turn out.
