Black Walnut Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup black walnuts chopped
Instructions
- Beat butter, shortening and sugar at medium speed for about 2 minutes. Add
- eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour and baking
- powder. Add flour and milk alternately, blending after each addition.
- Remem-
- ber to begin and end with the flour mixture. Stir in walnuts and flavorings. Pour
- into a 10-inch greased tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Cool in pan for 10 - 15 minutes.
