stick margarine

buttermilk

cup
shortening

Vanilla

sugar

small can coconut

egg yolks

cup
chopped nuts

cup
flour
5
egg whites
stiffly beaten
1
tsp.
Soda
cream cheese frosting
Instructions
Cream margarine and shortening; add sugar, beat until mixture is smooth.
Add egg yolks, beat well.
Combine flour and soda, add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Stir in vanilla.
Add coconut and chopped nuts.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake in 3 greased 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until done.
CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:
8 oz. Cream cheese, softened
1/2 stick margarine, softened
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 box confectioners sugar
Beat cream cheese and margarine until smooth.
Add powdered sugar and mix well.
Add vanilla, beat until smooth.
Add nuts.
Spread between layers and on top of cake.
