bar German chocolate

Instructions
Whip egg whites and set aside. Dissolve chocolate bar in boiling water and set
aside. Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten egg yolks and beat well. Add
3/4 cup milk alternately with flour. Add soda with 1/4 cup remaining milk, add
to batter and mix well. Add vanilla and chocolate. Fold in egg whites (vertical
motion). Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees in 3 greased and floured cake
pans.
ICING:
1 tall can evaporated milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package chopped nuts (1/2 cup)
1 cup coconut (or 1 can)
Mix milk, egg yolks, margarine and sugar in saucepan. Cook over medium heat,
stirring constantly until thick. (about 10 minutes) Cook and add remaining in-
gredients. Spread on cake.
