Company Best Pickles

Ingredients
  

  • 10 medium cucumbers
  • 8 cups sugar
  • 2 T. mixed pickling spice
  • 5 T. salt
  • 4 cups cider vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Place whole cucumber in a glass or stoneware jar. Cover with boiling water and
  • let stand overnight. Drain.
  • Repeat three times, three days with boiling water.
  • On fifth day drain and slice cucumbers in 1/2 in. pieces. Combine sugar, spices,
  • salt and vinegar - bring to boil and pour over cucumbers.
  • Let stand for 2 days. On third day, bring to a boil and pack in hot jars and seal.
  • Yields about 7 pints.
