Black Walnut Pound Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup black walnuts chopped

Instructions
 

  • Beat butter, shortening and sugar at medium speed for about 2 minutes. Add
  • eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour and baking
  • powder. Add flour and milk alternately, blending after each addition.
  • Remem-
  • ber to begin and end with the flour mixture. Stir in walnuts and flavorings. Pour
  • into a 10-inch greased tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Cool in pan for 10 - 15 minutes.
