Orange Slice Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 pound dates chopped
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 pound orange slice candy
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 t. soda
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cup confectionery sugar
  • 3 1/2 cup plain flour

  • Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, beating well after each.

  • solve soda in milk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in large bowl and add
  • dates, orange slices, nuts. Stir to coat each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut
  • to creamed mixture. Dough is very stiff and should be mixed with hands. Put
  • in
  • greased and floured bundt or tube cake pan.
  • Bake in a 250 degree oven for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Combine orange juice and confec-
  • tionery sugar and pour over hot cake (while in pan), then put bake in oven and
  • let
  • stand overnight.
