Turkey (any size)
This was one of Mow-maw's (Cleazel) recipes from years ago. However, I suggest following the directions on your turkey. It is not safe to leave it in the oven overnight.
Instructions
- *Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
- About 9 or 10 o clock on Thanksgiving Eve, place turkey in covered roaster with a onion, three stalks of celery and an apple, salt and pepper, one quart of warm water.
- Bake for one hour.
- Turn off oven.
- Do not open oven door. Leave all night and in the morning, it will be a golden brown, you will have plenty of broth for dressing and gravy and the tenderest turkey you ever tasted.
