Roll Out Cookies
These are fun cookies to make. They freeze well and are greatfun to decorate with kids.. I like to add extra liquid (equal parts corn syrup and milk) to make the icing thin enough to paint with watercolor paintbrush. This is a great Christmas activity!
Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 3/4 cup flour
Icing
- 1 cup confectionery sugar
- 2 tsp milk
- 2 tsp light corn syrup
- food coloring of choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In large bowl, cream butter and sugar with mixer.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Add baking powder and flour one cup at a time, mixing after each addition. DO NOT CHILL DOUGH!
- Roll out and cut with cookie cutters.
- Bake on un-greased cookie sheet on top rack of oven for 6-7 minutes.
