Caramel Filling for Black Walnut Cake
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar
- 4 T. flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 t. vanilla
Instructions
- Mix flour with 2 1/2 cup sugar then add milk. Put on medium heat to cook. In
- a skillet caramelize the other 1/2 cup sugar and add 1/8 t. soda and mix
- well

- fore adding to the other mixture. Stir occasionally while cooking to 232 de-
- grees. Add butter and vanilla and cool. Stir till smooth then put on top and be-
- tween layers.
