Ingredients
  

  • from the kitchen of Lorene Coker
  • 16 lb. Cucumbers
  • 1 gallon white vinegar
  • 1 box pickling spice
  • 1 quart plain salt
  • About 4 oz. Alum
  • 10 lb. Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Wash cucumbers and put in container with salt water for five days. Take out and
  • put in alum water. Let set over night. Remove and wash well. Slice and let set
  • in vinegar over night. Pour off vinegar and put sugar over cucumbers. Let set
  • until syrup rises (about a day)
